Frequently asked questions

Everything needed to know about whitewater rafting and safety.

Is whitewater rafting in Bali safe for beginners and non-swimmers?

Yes. Most guests are first-time rafters and non-swimmers. High-buoyancy life jackets and international standard helmets are provided. The local operator's certified river guides steer the raft at all times and instruct precisely when to paddle.

Are hotel pickup and drop-off services provided?

No. BaliRaftingTickets functions strictly as a booking platform and does not provide transportation. Guests are fully responsible for arranging their own transport (such as a taxi, online ride-hailing app, or private rental) to the designated local operator's basecamp.

How are bookings paid?

Operations run entirely on a "Pay on Arrival" system. Bookings are secured online for free, and the full amount is paid directly to the local operator at their basecamp on the day of the tour. Payments can generally be made in Cash (IDR) or standard supported credit/debit cards.

What is the difference between Ayung River and Telaga Waja River?

Ayung River (in Ubud) features Class II-III rapids with stunning jungle scenery and stone carvings—perfect for families and scenic relaxation. Telaga Waja River (in Karangasem) features Class III-IV rapids with faster water currents and a thrilling 4-meter dam drop—ideal for adrenaline seekers.

What should be worn and brought for the rafting trip?

Swimwear, shorts, or light quick-dry t-shirts along with river sandals or water shoes are recommended. Bringing a change of dry clothes, sunscreen, and cash for personal expenses is advised. Most rafts are equipped with waterproof dry bags for phones and small valuables.

What happens if it rains on the day of the booked tour?

Rafting runs rain or shine. However, if extreme tropical storms cause unsafe river water levels, the local operator will postpone or cancel the trip for safety. In such cases, rescheduling for free or cancelling the reservation entirely without penalty is available.

Can the tour date be changed or the reservation cancelled?

Yes. Because a zero-deposit system is used, cancellations or rescheduling can be done free of charge. Notice is kindly requested at least 24 hours in advance for cancellations, or 12 hours for rescheduling, to adjust the local operator's schedule accordingly.

What time should the basecamp be reached?

Arrival times depend on the chosen session (usually Morning or Afternoon). The exact reporting time, along with the basecamp's Google Maps location link, is provided instantly on the confirmation page and sent via email or WhatsApp after booking.

Is there a minimum age or weight requirement for rafting?

Generally, the minimum age is 7 years old for Ayung River and 12 years old for Telaga Waja River. There is no maximum age limit as long as physical health is good. Participants must fit safely into the provided life jackets and helmets (typically accommodating 30 kg to 120 kg).

Will there be a photographer or can personal cameras be brought?

Most local operators provide professional photography services along the route. High-resolution digital photos can be purchased directly from them at the basecamp. Personal action cameras or GoPros may also be brought at one's own risk.

How long does the entire rafting experience take?

The rafting route itself takes about 2 hours on the water. Including registration, safety briefing, showering, and lunch at the basecamp, the full experience typically takes around 3.5 to 4 hours. Itineraries should be planned accordingly.

Is food included in the price?

Yes, it is included. A lunch buffet is provided after the rafting session at the operator's restaurant. The menu typically features local Indonesian dishes, fresh fruit, and water.
